What’s something you would attempt if you were guaranteed not to fail.
I would purchase an Arizona Herbal Tonic from a well-stocked convenience store. This I do on a semi-regular basis.
As for the real answer you are looking for: having or not having a guarantee against failure makes no alteration to what I would attempt in my life. There isn’t a category in my life labelled, “But for the fear of failure I would do this.” Conquering fear and munching on risk like it’s a soggy Cheerio is an appropriate response for certain things. Circumstances in my life have required me to act with fearless fortitude on countless occasions.
Unfortunately, I must inform you of the categorical emptiness in my soul, of those endeavors which I would undertake if I were guaranteed their successful outcome. Failure does not scare me, fore I am unafraid of being humbled.
I do earnestly believe that if something is reasonable, decent, pure, without ill-motivation, why should it be forfeited? If something is worth doing, simply do it.
This idea for me is related to Kantian ethics. Whereby a deed is worth doing if it is intrinsically good <full stop>. If a deed is found to be intrinsically good its goodness warrants the doing. The benefits of the doer do not factor in whatsoever. In fact, when doing something as good and pure as a good deed the doer should expect (nigh on demand) of oneself no gain, no benefit, no return at all. The value of a good deed stands by itself and should be utterly divorced from thoughts of benefitting ourselves.
Something is either worth doing or it is not. The potential for failure is a lie. Revising the question in the daily writing prompt leads us to a better one: “What would you do?”
