In what ways does hard work make you feel fulfilled?

Hard work asks questions of those for whom the toil is appointed. Sometimes pointed questions. Sometimes long and arduous questions. For me, I scoff at these questions. Because they always seem to be the same: can you complete the tasks? Are you skillful enough to solve the problem set(s) before you? Are you able to endure the climate? Can you bear the discomfort of sweat, grit, oiliness, loudness, or overall any variety of separation from comfort? Can you perform in the cold? Can you perform in the rain? Are you vigilant enough to execute dangerous tasks in the presence of each of such preconditions?

At least, these are the questions asked of me in my line of work. Sure there are others.

Sometimes the hard work comes in the form of restraining my tongue from berating the purveyors of idiotic words. Aka clients. The vanity of some client conversations waste time, preventing me from answering the real questions. The real questions are what time and toil ask of every man: can you?

The fulfillment comes when I turn my back on a completed project. My eyes no longer look on the work that once was. My ears no longer process the grating decibels. The clients can no longer decry or disrespect. Silence ensues. The disbelief in the questions I have long despised cease. And I will never again desire to be on their property.

Time continues until man goes to his eternal home, where the temporal toil of this plane is put off and forgotten forever.
